At a recent campaign stop in Grand Rapids, Mich., former President Donald Trump talked much about what happened in Butler, Penn., claiming that he “took a bullet for democracy.”
Trump’s first public campaign event since the shooting, he brought along his newly announced running mate J.D. Vance to present to his followers. To loud cheers, Trump recalled the way he has been treated over the years in light of the attempt on his life.
“They keep saying, ‘he’s a threat to democracy’ … what the hell did I do to democracy?” Trump asked. “Last week, I took a bullet for democracy!”
“At this very moment, Democrat Party bosses are frantically trying to overthrow the results of their own party’s primaries to dump Crooked Joe Biden from the ballot,” Trump added with a skin-colored bandage on his ear.
“As you’re seeing, the Democratic Party is not the party of democracy. They’re really the enemies of democracy.”

Trump’s appearance in Grand Rapids occurred right as Democrats were scrambling to try to find a replacement for Joe Biden, who dropped out of the presidential race suddenly on July 21.
According to Trump, Democrats no longer have any idea “who their candidate is, and neither do we.”
Many want Biden to not just drop out of the race but also resign from the presidency right now, which would leave Kamala Harris as the new president until January 2025, assuming Trump wins in November.
Biden, 81, faces increasing scrutiny over his apparent inability to run the country due to rapidly declining, age-related health problems. Following Biden’s disastrous performance at the debate in late June, it became apparent to both the right and the left that Biden is incapable of functioning as commander-in-chief.
Then, out of nowhere, Biden reportedly tested “positive” for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) immediately after dropping out of the race. He was not seen publicly for quite some time.
“There is no democracy when treasonous political donors determine which candidates get elected or defeated, and who gets to live and to die,” a commenter at RT wrote about how United States elections are corrupt to the core.
“Lobbyists like AIPAC and the Ashkenazi Defence League should be exiled to GITMO with their assets being appropriated.”
Another noted that Trump used that same “democracy” word rather than referring to America as the republic that it actually is.
“No mention of saving the republic, only democracy which was a failure,” this person wrote. “If you want to see who took the bullet, visit a local VA hospital.”
“Also, while you’re busy saving Israel, Taiwan, Ukraine and any other cat juggling carnie that pleads for assistance, remember what you observed in that same VA hospital. For ‘democracy.’ It got a lot of people killed. No offense to actual carnies.”
Another asked of Trump why he “put a bullet in Iranian military chief Suleimani and many other lives along with him.”
“He never killed a single American,” this person said. “Was it for democracy?”
“There is no democracy anywhere,” suggested another about the specious nature of the term “democracy” in the modern context. “Even if there was, who ever thought many wrongs should decide what is right?”
